Improve interpretation

Listen to yourself

Enhance your ability to grasp where the score is leading, where the composer aims to take you within their musical world; the sensitivity of the melody; the structure of the harmony, suspension, and resolution; the framework of the rhythm, swing, and rubato; ...

Pay attention to your surroundings

When playing with other musicians or dancers, listen and observe each other to create a cohesive and authentic musical interpretation—your unique collective expression.

Adapt the score to your expectations

Simplify, rearrange, or enhance the score itself (e.g., using MuseScore). Expresseur makes the interpretation easy but sometimes requires adjustments or rearrangements to make it even easier and more straightforward to play.

Select the staff you want to play  ( menu Edit / view-play ). For example, "doubling" the vocal on Expresseur can be useful during learning phase with the singer, but can be removed during the progression.

Enhance the Expresseur text description

Editing the text description on the left panel, using the menu Edit  / Edit :

    • Include repetitions: da capo, al segno, couplet, etc.
    • Add decorations: automatic pedals, arpeggio, mordents, embellishments, ...

Build various ambiances

Take advantage of the full potential of modern sound rendering. Pianoteq offers incredible options for piano, harpsichord, vibraphone, harps, and even a full organ with Organteq. The world of digital sound rendering is limitless.

Each track can play its own instrument (e.g. in Organteq, or with MIDI-synthetizer), using menu Edit / mixer .

Control or improvise the color of the sound in real-time using a MIDI controller.

Enhance your performance with synchronized lighting effects using DMX projectors.

Enhance the reactivity

The full computer keyboard can be used for various shortcuts, such as mixer, tacet, dacapo, and more (refer to the Expresseur menu Setting / One-key config).

Any MIDI event, like a piano key or controller, can trigger actions like direct note-thru, dacapo, mixer, or arpeggio (see the Expresseur menu Setting / MIDI-shortcut).

Additionally, lists of scores can be created for specific events, such as lessons or concerts ( see the Epxresseur menu List ).

Minimalist configuration

Expresseur can be played without additional software hadware, in a minimalist configuration :

    • In the Audio wizard : tune the parameters to have a correct sound with the Test button
    • In the menu Edit / Mixer : select "SF2_default_piano" for all tracks
    • Press the "space bar" on your computer keyboard to play the score

This configuration is not recommended :

  • direct SF2 sounds are difficult to tune to minimize the latency
  • computer keyboard avoid any possibility to add sensitivity
